Safety Net Inspection
Safety Nets and WAHR
A safety net is collective fall protection, catching anyone who falls without them having to clip on. Under Regulation 12 of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 it has to be inspected once installed and before anyone works above it, then at suitable intervals and after anything that could affect it, such as a fall, high winds or alterations.
Our examiners inspect the net, its fixings and the installation on site, and record clearly whether it is fit to protect your workforce.

What's included
What's covered in a safety net inspection
Netting and Mesh
We check the netting for cuts, holes, abrasion, UV degradation, heat and chemical damage. Damaged mesh and broken knots are the most common reason a net is withdrawn.
Border and Tie Ropes
We inspect the border rope and the tie ropes or couplings for damage, wear and correct tying. Loose or missing tie ropes are a frequent installation fault.
Anchorages and Structure
We check the anchor points, hooks and the structure the net is fixed to, at the spacing the installation needs to hold a falling load.
Installation and Clearance
We check the net is rigged up to the working edge with no gaps, the fall height into it is within limits, and there is enough clearance below for it to deflect without anyone striking the ground or obstructions.
Debris, Labels and Test Mesh
We check the net is clear of debris, the label and ID are present, and the test mesh is in place with its last test in date.
How it works
Your safety net's WAHR inspection, start to finish
Every scheme your equipment is required to meet under UK regulation carried out by accredited engineers and backed by compliant reports.
1
Book
Tell us where the nets are going up and when, and we confirm a date and a fixed quote, usually same day.
2
On-site examination
A competent examiner attends and inspects the nets in position, fixings and installation included.
3
Compliant report
You receive the inspection record within three days, with a clear verdict and any defects to put right.
4
Reminders
We track the next inspection due and remind you before it comes round.
OUR STANDARDS
Collective protection checked properly
We take our responsibilities seriously, upholding the highest standards of professionalism, quality and safety across every aspect of our operations.
Quality Assurance
Nets inspected in position by competent examiners who check the installation, not just the netting.
Responsibility
A recorded inspection that keeps your fall protection compliant with the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
Care
A net protects everyone working above it, so we make sure it will hold before anyone needs it to.

FAQ
Safety Net Inspection FAQs
When does a safety net need inspecting?
After installation and before anyone works above it, then at suitable intervals while it is in use, and after any event that could affect it, such as a fall into the net, debris landing in it, high winds or the net being moved or altered.
What are test meshes?
Short lengths of mesh tied into the net so they can be removed and tested to show the net has not lost strength through age or UV. Under BS EN 1263-1 they are tested at least annually, so we check they are present and the last test is in date.
Does a net that has caught a fall need replacing?
It must be taken out of use and inspected before anyone relies on it again. Depending on the damage and the load it took, it may need to be withdrawn entirely.
Do I legally need a work-at-height inspection?
If you provide equipment for working at height, the Work at Height Regulations 2005 make it your duty to have it inspected. Regulation 12 requires inspection at suitable intervals where it could deteriorate, on top of the user's pre-use checks, and a competent person's record is your evidence of compliance.
Do you carry out inspections on site?
Yes. Our examiners come to your premises across Berkshire and the surrounding counties, inspect the equipment in place, and issue the records promptly.
