How often do I need a LOLER examination?

Every 6 months for equipment used to lift people and for lifting accessories, and every 12 months for all other lifting equipment, or in line with an examination scheme drawn up by a competent person.

What's the difference between LOLER and PUWER?

LOLER covers the lifting side of your equipment, while PUWER covers it as work equipment more broadly. Plenty of machines need both, and we carry out PUWER examinations too.

Do you cover my part of Hampshire?

Yes. From Southampton and Portsmouth on the coast to Basingstoke, Andover, Winchester, Farnborough and Aldershot inland, we cover the whole county and come to you.

What happens if my equipment fails the examination?

Your report sets out every defect and how serious it is. Anything that poses an immediate danger is reported at once, so the equipment can be taken out of use until it's put right.

Do I legally need a LOLER examination?

If your business owns, operates or controls lifting equipment, then yes. LOLER 1998 makes it your legal duty to have it thoroughly examined by a competent person and to keep the resulting report.

SOUTHAMPTON

Down on the coast, Southampton (SO14-SO19) revolves around the water. The docks are among the busiest in the country, so it's container handlers, quayside and dockside cranes and cargo-handling kit running hard all day. Round the Solent at Fareham, Gosport and Hamble (PO12-PO16), the marine trade adds boat hoists, travel lifts and marina cranes you simply don't see inland.

PORTSMOUTH
